Beneteau Oceanis Sprayhood – All Models, All Generations, Delivered Across Europe

A well-fitted sprayhood is one of the most practical additions you can make to a Beneteau Oceanis sailboat. It keeps the companionway dry on a beat, extends your sailing season into the shoulder months, and makes offshore passages significantly more comfortable for whoever is on watch. This guide covers every Oceanis model we supply, the material options available, how to confirm the right fit for your hull, and what the installation process involves.
Beneteau has been producing the Oceanis line since 1986, making it one of the longest-running cruising yacht ranges in Europe. Across eight generations – from the original triple-digit models through to the current .1 and numbered generation – the Oceanis has evolved considerably. Companionway dimensions, coaming geometry and grab-rail layouts differ meaningfully between generations and hull sizes, which is why a model-specific pattern matters.

Which Beneteau Oceanis Models Do We Cover?

We supply model-specific sprayhoods for the following Beneteau Oceanis versions. Each cover is patterned to the exact companionway dimensions and coaming geometry of that hull generation – not a generic approximation.

Why Does a Model-Specific Sprayhood Matter on an Beneteau Oceanis?

The Oceanis range spans nearly four decades and multiple distinct hull generations. Companionway widths, hatch angles and coaming profiles changed significantly between the original triple-digit models, the Clipper generation, the mid-2000s redesign and the current .1 series. The grab-rail positions – to which the sprayhood frame feet bolt – also vary between hull sizes and build years.

A universal or poorly matched sprayhood will gap at the sides, place uneven stress on the frame, or require improvised fixings that damage the gelcoat over time. A model-specific sprayhood is patterned from a physical template taken directly from that hull. The frame feet sit flat on the coaming, the cover seals cleanly against the existing hatch surround, and nothing requires cutting or drilling in most cases.

This matters particularly for Oceanis owners who sail in the Baltic, the North Sea or the Atlantic coast – conditions where a properly sealed companionway is not a detail but a requirement.

Sprayhood Material Options for Beneteau Oceanis

Sunbrella® (Solution-Dyed Acrylic)

The most popular choice for European sailing. Sunbrella is breathable, UV-resistant, and available in a wide range of colours. It handles the damp northern European climate well, dries quickly after rain, and typically lasts 8–12 years with basic maintenance. Standard warranty from the fabric manufacturer is 10 years against fading.

Masacril® (Solution-Dyed Acrylic)

An Spanish alternative to Sunbrella with similar performance characteristics. Slightly heavier hand feel, excellent abrasion resistance, and a reputation for colour retention in high-UV environments. A good choice if your Bavaria Cruiser spends summers in the Mediterranean.

Windows

All our Beneteau Oceanis sprayhoods are available with three forward-facing windows in 0,75 mm optical-grade PVC.

Beneteau Oceanis Cockpit Covers

Many Oceanis owners pair their sprayhood with a full cockpit cover for marina storage or winter lay-up. A properly fitted cockpit cover protects the winches, traveller track, wheel or tiller, and the sprayhood itself from UV degradation and bird damage over the winter season.

We pattern cockpit covers to the same hull-specific dimensions as our sprayhoods. If you order both together, the sprayhood and cockpit cover are designed to interface cleanly at the companionway – no overlap gaps, no mismatched attachment points.

How Does Fitting Work?

Our Beneteau Oceanis sprayhoods are designed for owner DIY installation. The frame is pre-assembled and the cover is sewn to fit – no cutting or drilling required in most cases. The process typically takes one to two hours with basic tools. We include a fitting guide with every order.

If your Oceanis has non-standard grab-rail positions – common on boats where the original rails have been replaced or a previous owner fitted non-OEM hardware – contact us before ordering. We can adjust the frame foot spacing to match your specific layout at no extra charge, provided you send us the measurements.

Need Something Custom?

If your Beneteau Oceanis has a bimini already fitted, a full cockpit enclosure, or an unusual deck layout, our sister business FreyaFrames handles bespoke fabrication. They work from 3D models and measurements sent by email and can produce full-enclosure systems for Oceanis hulls across all generations.

Frequently Asked Questions – Beneteau Oceanis Sprayhoods

What sprayhood fits a Beneteau Oceanis 40.1?

We stock a model-specific sprayhood patterned directly to the Oceanis 40.1 companionway, covering all build years of this generation. It fits the standard OEM hatch surround. If the companionway hatch has been replaced with a non-OEM unit, send us your hull number and we'll confirm before dispatch.

How do I know which Oceanis generation I have?

The hull identification number (HIN) is moulded into the transom on the starboard side. The 10th character indicates the model year. For older Clipper-generation and mid-series boats, the CE documentation plate inside the companionway also shows the year of manufacture. If you're unsure, contact us with the HIN and model name.

Can I fit the sprayhood myself or do I need a rigger?

Most Oceanis owners install our sprayhoods without professional help. The frame feet bolt to the existing grab rails using the supplied fittings, and the cover attaches via Velcro and/or zip to the hatch surround. Plan for about 1–2 hours and a second pair of hands for holding the frame during fitting.

What colour options are available?

We offer the full Sunbrella and Masacril colour ranges – over 80 colours including the navy, cobalt and grey tones that are popular on Oceanis hulls. If you want to match an existing bimini or sail cover, send us the fabric colour code. We can also deliver canvas samples before you order to help you find the closest match.

How long does delivery take to mainland Europe?

Standard delivery to most EU countries is 4–6 working days after production is complete. We ship via tracked courier. Production time is generally 2–6 weeks. Expect longer lead times during the high season from March to June.

How do I care for the sprayhood over winter?

Brush off loose dirt, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry fully before folding for storage. If the cover remains on the boat over winter, a cockpit cover over the top significantly extends its life by protecting it from UV, bird droppings and ice formation in the window panels.

Do you supply sprayhoods for older Oceanis models from the 1980s and 1990s?

We hold patterns for most Oceanis hulls built from the late 1980s onward, including the original triple-digit 350/370/390/400 series and the full Clipper range. For older boats, companionway dimensions can vary between individual hulls of the same model, so we may ask you to confirm measurements before we cut. Contact us with your model and year and we'll advise.
